Hevy alternative: Kreidebuch vs Hevy

Hevy is one of the most popular strength training logs. Here's where Hevy is strong, who might want an alternative and how to take your data with you.

Last checked: October 25, 2026

Short answer: For pure strength training with a social feed and Apple Watch, Hevy is hard to beat, and its free version has no ads. An alternative makes sense if you also want to log WODs like AMRAP or EMOM with a timer and benchmarks. Kreidebuch imports your Hevy export with Premium; note that templates are Premium in Kreidebuch too.

When a Hevy alternative makes sense

Hevy is built for gym lifting. Reasons people look for something else:

  • You do WODs too. We found no built-in AMRAP, EMOM or Tabata formats in Hevy; per Hevy, you rebuild circuits and intervals with supersets and a rest timer.

  • You want benchmarks like Fran or Murph with standards. We found no benchmark WODs in Hevy.

What Kreidebuch does differently

Kreidebuch

Best for: lifts and WODs in one log.

Kreidebuch is a training log made by The Goodie Company GmbH near Würzburg, Germany. It runs as a web app in the browser and can be added to your home screen. Data is stored on a Hetzner server in Helsinki, Finland.

To be fair: templates and planning are Premium in Kreidebuch. If you want to save fixed routines for free, Hevy gives you more with 4 routines.

Strengths

  • For Time, AMRAP, EMOM, Tabata, intervals and chippers as real formats, with a timer
  • 145 benchmarks with Rx weights and levels
  • Multi-part sessions: a strength part and a metcon in one entry
  • Full history in the free version, with no time limit
  • Hevy's set export is recognized and imported with Premium
  • Runs in the browser, on a computer too

Limitations

  • Not a native app: no Apple Watch app, no Apple Health connection, no vibration on iPhone
  • New, with few users so far
  • No box management software, no class leaderboards or rankings
  • Planning, templates, insights, strength programs and import need Premium

Price: Free with the timer, logging, history, benchmarks, PRs per lift and export. Premium costs €5.99 a month or €53.99 a year. New accounts get a 14-day Premium trial.

Ratings: Kreidebuch isn't listed in the app stores, so it has no store ratings.

  1. In Hevy's settings, choose the workout export. Hevy exports workouts and body measurements separately.

Import is a Premium feature. New accounts get a 14-day Premium trial.

  • … the feed, following and leaderboards matter to you
  • … you'd rather pay once: Hevy offers Lifetime
